Miriam, Registered Nurse

Miriam epitomizes our motto: “Once a Bulldog. Always a Bulldog.” After graduating from EPAA in 2014, Miriam earned her Medical Assisting certificate and began her journey in the medical field as she was starting her own family. Her drive to succeed in life, take care of and be an example to her children, and to help others in a clinical setting made her want to continue her training.

She earned her Licensed Vocational Nursing certificate next, and — almost a decade after graduating from EPAA — when she needed assistance applying for financial aid to help pay for further training, she knew where she could always find it: East Palo Alto Academy Foundation.

Now, as one of the inaugural members of EPAAF’s Hughes Vocational Cohort, Miriam has earned her Registered Nursing license with the help of the East Palo Alto Academy Foundation and the Hughes Vocational Scholarship.
